AIFC Court & IAC Host EAEU Court Delegation to Strengthen Regional Legal Collaboration

A delegation from the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) Court, led by Mr. Alexey Dronov, the Chairman of the EAEU Court, visited the AIFC Court and IAC earlier this year as part of continued cooperation between the AIFC Court and IAC and the EAEU Court. Mr. Christopher Campbell-Holt OBE, the Registrar and Chief Executive of the AIFC Court and IAC, presented about the AIFC Court and IAC and their contribution to attracting investment to Kazakhstan and the wider Eurasia region.

The EAEU Court, headquartered in Minsk, Belarus, strives to enhance uniform application of law across the EAEU and the resolution of disputes at EAEU level. During the visit, the representatives of the EAEU Court and the AIFC Court and IAC explored opportunities for cooperation in the promotion of the rule of law.

The AIFC Court and IAC are independent of the national courts of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Eurasia region, but cooperate closely on matters of mutual interest, including on the enforcement of AIFC Court and IAC judgments in foreign countries, and the continual improvement of the administration of justice and the rule of law in Eurasia. The AIFC Court and IAC have become recognised ‘Centres of Excellence’ in Eurasia for promotion of the rule of law, applying and promoting the highest international standards of independence, impartiality, and justice that is focused on quality, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.

Digital Justice & Investor Protection: AIFC Court & IAC Lead the Conversation in Eurasia

The AIFC Court and IAC, as part of Astana Finance Days 2025, hosted a panel discussion ‘Digital Transformation of Justice & the Future of Investment Capital Protection’ at their premises in Astana, Kazakhstan.

Astana Finance Days is Eurasia’s flagship financial forum that convenes top decision-makers to accelerate investment, strengthen markets, and unlock new business opportunities across the region. This year’s event featured a panel discussion by The Rt. Hon. The Lord Burnett of Maldon, the AIFC Court Chief Justice, and Mr. Thomas Krümmel, the IAC Chairman. Additionally, future developments, including real-time court transcription services and expanded digital access to justice, were discussed. Mr. Christopher Campbel-Holt OBE, Registrar and Chief Executive of the AIFC Court & IAC, commented:

“Digital technologies are rapidly transforming the way in which justice is being done. The justice sector is evolving rapidly. Countries, including China, US, UK, Kazakhstan, and institutions including the AIFC Court and the IAC, are at the forefront of this transformation. The result is our judicial process being even faster, more transparent, and better equipped to serve investors now and for the foreseeable future. Our goal is to always innovate and lead Eurasia on digital justice and provide a world class service to investors using our dispute resolution services.”

AIFC Court, IAC & Beijing Municipal Bureau of Justice Explore New International Legal Cooperation

The Beijing Municipal Bureau of Justice, led by Mr. Hao Rundong, Director of the Political Department of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Justice, visited the AIFC Court and IAC. During the visit, the representatives were introduced to the AIFC Court and IAC and use of their premises and dispute resolution system. Cooperation opportunities were discussed.

Mr. Christopher Campbell-Holt OBE, Registrar and Chief Executive of the AIFC Court and IAC, highlighted the importance of carrying out academic seminars on cutting-edge issues of international law, prevention and response to international economic and trade disputes, and other related activities for effective training of foreign-related legal personnel.

The AIFC Court and IAC are the preferred international commercial dispute resolution institutions for business in Eurasia, and increasingly from China, and have completed and enforced more than 4,600 cases since operations began on 1 January 2018. As ‘Centres of Excellence’, the AIFC Court and IAC continue to lead the way on dispute resolution innovation and technology in Eurasia.
